Article Abstract:
This article describes the synthesis, binding modes of the C(sub)60 ligand on cluster frameworks, and electrochemical characteristics of C(sub)60--metal cluster complexes. Data indicate that [60]fullerene binds a wide range of metal clusters in a variety of bonding modes functioning as 2e-, 4e- and 6e-donor ligands. Furthermore, the electronic properties of the C(sub)60--metal clusters can be adjusted by modifying the ligands of cluster moieties.

Article Abstract:
Multivalent interactions, which rely upon noncovalent bonds, are essential ingredients in the mediation of biological processes, as well as in the construction of complex (super)structures for material applications. The multivalency in the context of self-assembling artificial systems as models for biological processes and as a means to order molecules into complex nanoarchitectures are discussed.

Article Abstract:
Transition metal complexes of expanded porphyrins and oligopyrrolic macrocycle metalation chemistry are studied. The nature of the inserted cation, the emerging role of tautomeric equilibria and the importance of hydrogen-bonding interactions in regulating this chemistry are discussed.
